Sharing and 4th of July!

On Thursday night, I went out sharing with one of the guys here on project and we had a VERY interesting night. We first talked to a relapsed Jew who still identified to the religion but did not attend service regularly. Our discussion ended early becuase his daughters had finished shopping. After another thirty minutes of walking around, we were felling a bit defeated. We headed into Barnes and Noble and went into the coffeeshop and met up with 1 high school graduate and a girl who was currently in high school. We used a picture survey (Solarium) with them to try to figure where they were at spiritually and it became VERY obvious that they both were searching. I didnt expect the conversation to get so personal. The girl revealed to us that she was a recovering cocaine addict (she had told the guy to leave for a bit when she told us this)! We found out that the guy was a relapsed Catholic and the girl was a relapsed Baha'i. The guy obviously knew his stuff about the Catholic and Christian faith. However, he was very stuck on the fact that people create their own perception of God. I am not too knowledgeable on the Baha'i faith but she said that they recognize all religious scripture. We are going to hopefully be meeting up with them tomorrow for lunch so please pray for our lunch together.

4th of July
I started off the day at 9am mass at St. Monica's parish. It was a great mass and all of the priests from the parish were in attendance. I am really enjoying the community there. They have a great balance between liturgy and service. I was able to talk to Fr. Tim, a newly ordained priest (May). He is a VERY young priest... even younger than Fr. Bong!!! It was great talking to him. After mass, we went to pray the Rosary at the St. Monica statue right by the beach. It was a very peaceful experience and 3 of the 5 priests said the rosary with us. I enjoyed singing patriotic songs as well :)
